Welcome to Down the Stretch Photos!I grew up in southern Ohio and become a racing fan at a very young age. I remember watching the Kentucky Derby every year since 1973. The most thrilling year was when Affirmed won The Triple Crown. His battles with Alydar are forever burned in my memory, along with the wide grin of jockey Steve Cauthen, after he accomplished the Triple Crown. In 1990, I began to take pictures when I went to the farms and the track, and began to sell them to other racing fans. In 1996, I began selling them over the Internet as DOWN THE STRETCH PHOTOGRAPHY. I have worked racing events such as; The Breeders Cup World Thoroughbred Championship, Triple Crown events, The Florida Derby, The Travers Stakes, The Jim Beam Stakes and The Atlanta Steeplechase. In 2005 I was able to go to Ireland for the Irish Derby. A beautiful place for horse lovers! I enjoy photographing the equine athlete; catching the fire in their eyes as they surge toward the finish line, on the way to a hard fought victory, or in a regal pose after their job is finished. Although my main focus is on thoroughbreds, I love all breeds and welcome your inquiries about photographing your horse. I am available for private/group photo shoots on location at your farm or stable. I have been published in THE BLOOD HORSE, STEEPLECHASE TIMES, THOROUGHBRED TIMES, THE BACKSTRETCH, AMERICAN STEEPLECHASING, Gary Steven's book: THE PERFECT RIDE, and the SOUTHEAST EQUINE MONTHLY. In 1999 my photo "Cooling Out" was named the Best Backside shot in the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF RACING'S Winning colors Photo contest. I was also a finalist with two entries in 2000 "Tough Break" and "Ray of Light".
